The commercial highlight of Dubai Design Week, Downtown Design will take place 9-12 November 2022, on the d3 Waterfront Terrace in Dubai Design District (d3).
Downtown Design is the annual destination in the region for contemporary design, attracting leading design professionals and industry decision-makers from the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and beyond, alongside top-tier public visitors.
The 2022 edition will be the fair’s most elevated experience to date, reflecting Dubai’s ever-growing economy and its incredibly strong influence on the success of the region’s burgeoning design industry.
The fair will welcome over 200 brands and designers from around the world, showcasing the best of contemporary design alongside the fair’s boutique section dedicated to limited-edition and bespoke design, Downtown Editions, offering a platform for individual designers and studios, galleries and collectives from the region and beyond.
The Forum at Downtown Design will host a series of compelling live talks and discussions between leading regional and international architects and interior and product designers, featuring a range of topics from changing industry dynamics, behaviours and opportunities.
Highlight features of the 2022 fair’s programme include a pop-up concept by Veuve Clicquot, celebrating its 250-year anniversary by engaging visitors with events, creative experiences alongside large-scale installations, from an immersive new-media installation to a modular installation created of rammed earth, using sand from the UAE.

As part of Tashkeel's commitment to incubating innovative, sustainable, contemporary product design informed by the heritage, identity and natural resources of the UAE, Tashkeel presents its annual design exhibition. ‘The Agency of Nature’ reveals the processes that are helping to shape a new design vernacular – one that is rooted in this land. Using seeds, skin, scales, bark and fibre, this exhibition explores the role of nature in sustainable design practices for a circular economy world.
Featuring seven UAE-based designers, it examines the research and experimentation that underpin their journeys in developing new sustainable materials to the point of proof of concept. The result is a set of furniture and lighting design pieces inspired by, designed and manufactured in the UAE.
All exhibited pieces were developed during the Tanween Design Programme at Tashkeel and are part of The Tanween Collection, Tashkeel’s limited edition furniture and lighting range.

Index Guest Speaker
It is with great honour and a privilege to be one of the designers selected as a guest speaker at Index Dubai design summit on the 25th May 2023, at Dubai World Trade Center.
I will be speaking about design and manufacturing as a expat designer in the UAE and taking the audience through my process of producing high-end furniture design and concept development within the region while being a participant at Tashkeel Studio with Tanween the sustainability edition 2021-2022, accompanied by the Make Works programme and You and Eye Manufacturing.
